The “Hortaleza Gravina” center in Madrid combines community arts spaces, live and work studios, and public childcare within a 1600 m² structure. A central courtyard maximizes natural daylight, while a smaller rear courtyard ensures bathroom ventilation. The building's corner is softened with a 45-degree cut to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding streetscape.
The structure features efficient framing and brick facades, reflecting Madrid’s architectural traditions. An open sky garden on the fifth and sixth floors provides outdoor space, while the façade’s grid pattern balances glazed areas for light and solid brick for insulation, creating a modern yet contextual design.
